چکیده
Turbot ( Scophthalmus maximus L., 1758) is a valuable commercial fish species classified as endangered. The conservation and sustainability of the turbot populations require knowledge population’s genetic structure constant monitoring its biodiversity. present study was performed to evaluate population along Bulgarian Black Sea coast using seven pairs microsatellites, two mitochondrial DNA (COIII CR) 23 morphological (15 morphometric 8 meristic) markers. A total 72 specimens at three locations were genotyped 59 alleles identified. observed number microsatellites more than effective alleles. overall mean values (Ho) expected heterogeneity (He) 0.638 0.685. high rate migration between (overall Nm = 17.484), with maximum value (19.498) Shabla Nesebar locations, observed. This result corresponded low level differentiation amongst these Fst 0.014), but there no correlation geographical distance. diversity in also average Garza-Williamson M index for all (0.359), suggesting reduction variation due founder effect or bottleneck. Concerning DNA, 17 haplotypes COIII 41 CR control region showed patterns haplotype very nucleotide diversity, indicating significant closely-related that this may have undergone recent expansion. Tajima’s D test Fu’s FS suggested growth. Pairwise low. admixture lack structuring found pointed analysed probably belonging same unit. Therefore, proper understanding sound distribution an important prerequisite successful sustainable development strategies preserve their evolutionary potential.

Turbot - Scophthalmus maximus
Distribution Th e turbot, Scophthalmus maximus, also called Psetta maxima (Scophthalmidae, Pleuronectiformes), is naturally distributed in European waters, from Northeast Atlantic to the Arctic Circle (30o to 70oN; 23oW42oE). It occurs in the Baltic and in the Mediterranean, as well as in the Black Sea, where a subspecies Psetta maxima maeotica has been described (1). It also exists in the Sout...
متن کاملA microsatellite genetic map of the turbot (Scophthalmus maximus).
A consensus microsatellite-based linkage map of the turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) was constructed from two unrelated families. The mapping panel was derived from a gynogenetic family of 96 haploid embryos and a biparental diploid family of 85 full-sib progeny with known linkage phase. A total of 242 microsatellites were mapped in 26 linkage groups, six markers remaining unlinked. The consensus ...
متن کاملSwimbladder pathology during larval development of turbot ( , Scophthalmus maximus L . )
With the aim of elucidating the causes of the high mortality of turbot (Scophthalmus maximus L.) larvae during development, histopathological studies were carried out and the role of the swimbladder in turbot larval pathology was investigated. Several batches of 1 to 90-d-old larvae from a commercial hatchery were sampled during the course of 3 years. Alterations were observed in swimbladders m...
متن کاملSystemic disease in turbot Scophthalmus maximus
A new group of Cytophaga-like bacteria has been recovered from healthy and diseased turbot in Scotland. Cultures produced orange colonies and contained short rods with distinctively thick cell walls. Gliding movement was observed and the guanine plus cytosine ratio of the DNA was 31.7 to 32.1 mols %. The organism caused gill hyperplasia and systemic haemorrhagic septicaemia in both naturally di...
متن کاملThe feeding ecology of 0 year-group turbot Scophthalmus maximus and brill Scophthalmus rhombus on Irish west coast nursery grounds.
On sandy beach nursery grounds along the west coast of Ireland, 0 year-group turbot Scophthalmus maximus were found to consume six types of crustaceans, in addition to polychaetes. The 0 year-group brill Scophthalmus rhombus fed almost exclusively on mysids, even though nine taxonomic prey groups were identified in the sediment across the investigated beaches. Both species avoided non-motile or...
